Nursery around the country is a lifeline for many working parents and guardians. Without this facility, many parents would have to stay at home, but leaving your children in the care of primary strangers is not something that most parents do lightly.
The article in the media regarding a nursery worker found guilty of assaulting three toddlers is alarming. She apparently draws a moustache on a sleeping baby face, scrawled on a child with a marker pen, pulled his legs causing him to fall; the report states these kids were one-year-old.
Parents put their babies in nursery facilities believing the care workers are honest and trustworthy and that they will give their charge the best possible care that is within their capability.
So, it saddens everyone when someone breaks or breach that trust. However, in my opinion, the situation reported is not the norm but exception to the rule, and we cannot tarnish the reputation of hundreds of decent nursery carer because of this incident.
Individual, like the one, found guilty of assaulting those children should go to prison an example, must be set, and they should know in no uncertain terms that our communities will not tolerate ridiculously, inhumane behaviour against no one especially our children.
