16 year old Snapchat row killer jailed for 17 years

According to a media report, a 16-year-old boy who stabbed to death another 16 years old has been, sentenced to 17 years behind bars.

Apparently, the incident occurs on the 6 June 2017, when it as being stated that the boys got into an argument over a Snapchat story and one used a kitchen knife to stab the other in the chest. Despite paramedics best efforts the young man died at the scene.

One 16-years old dead the other will spend 17 years of his life in prison. Two lives destroyed in the blink of an eye. It is a painful reminder that I lost a family friend to stabbing on the last day of 2017. These kinds of murder destroyed families on both sides, whether they are victims or perpetrators.

In a supposedly civilised society, how can a dispute over a social media article results in the death of one young life and the incarceration of another? When will young people understand that taking a life is never an answer to resolving a disagreement?

In my opinion, that 16 years old that will be in prison for the next 17 years must regret the actions he has taken and now there is no do-over. Young people are looking at life as if is a game where killing an action figure one can go back and reset the game.
