The issue of the UK leaving the European Union, following the June referendum, is still creating a great back lash by the Anti- Brexit campaigners who still believe that the UK leaving the EU is not in the best interest of the country.

Therefore, according to a media report, the campaigners have organised a London march on the 9 September which will start at Hyde Park Corner and end at Parliament square. Apparently, they have the backing of the likes of Sir Patrick Stewart and Alistair Campbell. They hope that having the march coinciding with other events occurring in Europe will strengthen their resolve and force the government, in my opinion, to halt current negotiations opt for another referendum.

Sometimes one has to wonder if the individuals that are elected to govern a nation are stupid, given the current climate in the UK pertaining to Brexit one would assume that the government would bow to the wishes of the people and call another referendum.  We have to consider that the main reasons that people voted to opt out were because of the so-called promise of £350 million that would go to the NHS if we leave the EU, and we now know that it was untrue.

If the campaigners are coining the phrase ‘Autumn of Discontent’ that would demonstrate to many people that they intend to make sure that Brexit remain in the forefront of the political arena and there is going to be no let up for the Prime Minister and given her weaken political party she should consider stopping the negotiating process and call another referendum.  She could emerge better off politically but should she continue down the path she taken may be disastrous for not just her but the party has a whole.

One cannot forget that we had a referendum that started this process but because it was primarily built on lies and innuendoes, it, in my opinion, void the process, therefore, if we truly want to know the way the British people feel about staying of leaving the EU then let’s call another referendum and campaign again and this time honestly so that whatever vote we end up with is an accurate decision of the people
