We always asked the question of why does a bad thing seem to happen to good people.

It is essential that we recognise that one time a bad thing happen to a perfect person. That person was Jesus Christ, and, the bad thing that He suffered was the punishment that our sins deserved.

Bad things happen to good people in our world because the world continually reaps the results of sin. The vast majority of Mankind has forsaken God, and we are paying the consequences. The Devil is using our lack of faith in God to create mayhem and havoc in our world, and this is the reason for the suffering in the world.

We continuously use the word ‘good’ to demonstrate what we think when things happen to those we believe is innocent. But according to the scripture, the book of Mark 10:18 And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God.

James 2:10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. So, here we are reminded that we cannot pick and choose which of God’s law we will keep and which we will break because if we fail to keep them all, then the scripture says we break all.

This truth is an equaliser that puts us all on the same level when it comes to goodness or righteousness. Under God’s law, we cannot compare ourselves to a murderer and feel good. You may believe his sin is higher than yours, but if both are sinners, then we are in desperate need of Christ’s righteousness.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Until we get rid of our human behavioural traits and sinful nature such as greed, idolatry, anger, rage, malice, sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires, slander, foul language and lying bad things are always going to happen.

Our redemption will come from cloaking ourselves with the characteristics or virtues of the new nature, or a new self, which is gentleness, patience, forgiveness, compassion, kindness, humility,  love, peace and thankfulness things the Devil is afraid to be among so he cannot create confusion or evil acts.
