Dreams how important are they and what the Bible say. Dreams are vital to us. God used dreams and visions several times in the Bible to communicate with people. God used visions in the Old Testament to reveal His plan, further His plan, and put His people in places of influence.

Let us look at the Biblical verses that tell us about our dreams, vision, and the importance to our humanity. Genesis 15:1 After these things, the word of the Lord came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward. From the beginning of time, God uses dreams to communicate with his people.

The book of 1 Samuel 3 recorded the dreams that Samuel had in his first vision as a young boy. God told him that judgment was coming upon the sons of Samuel’s mentor, Eli. The young Samuel was faithful to relay the information, and God continued to speak to Samuel through the rest of his life.

Numbers 24:4 He hath said, which heard the words of God, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open.

In the Old Testament: God gave His people dreams or the ability to interpret dreams to protect them from danger and fulfil His purposes. In the Old Testament, Joseph interpreted Pharaoh’s dream to mean that there would be seven years of plenty and seven years of famine (Genesis 41). Joseph’s gift put him in a powerful position to implement a plan to protect Egypt from famine and rescue his family from potential starvation.

In the New Testament: The Magi were directed not to return to Herod with news of Jesus for, having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route (Matthew 2:12). Consequently, Joseph and Mary escaped to Egypt to protect Jesus.

Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterwards, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions.

Job 33:15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed. This is God telling us how he will communicate with his people. Dreams or visions are vital aspects of our Christianity and how God choose to communicate.

Daniel 2:28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these.
