Keeping our vows and solemn promises to God is something that Christians do freely and deliberately.

Our very existence depends on how we keep our vows to God once we make them. We cannot serve him haphazardly; we must go all the way, live, breathe and anchor ourselves in his words and teachings.

God is aware that we stumble and sometimes fall and that the road to his glory is froth with pitfalls and dangers and sometimes we fail. However, our task is to continue to ask for his guidance, love and to give us the faith we need to persevere.

The book of Deuteronomy 23:21 tells us how important our vow to God is taken it says When thou shalt vow a vow unto the Lord thy God, thou shalt not slack to pay it: for the Lord thy God will surely require it of thee; and it would be sin in thee.

Committing to God is to be taken seriously as we are told her in the book of Numbers 30:2 If a man vows a vow unto the Lord or swears an oath to bind his soul with a bond; he shall not break his word, he shall do according to all that proceedeth out of his mouth.

Deuteronomy 7:9 sums it up beautifully when it says Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations.
