Headlines like these when they appear in the media makes us wonder what kind of messages the justice system is sending to people who break the law.
As a society it would appear that there is one law for a specific section of our communities and another for those that the justice system believe should not go to prison, irrespective of their crimes.
According to a media report, a 38-year old former police officer that admitted to downloading, possessing and sharing indecent images of children walked free from court.
Apparently, the court was lenient because the individual suffered mental health problems. What an utter load of rubbish. I know people who are battling leukaemia and other health issues, and they are not downloading and sharing images of children being, abused.
In my opinion, there have been several news articles in the media that make me very angry and, believe our justice system has gone bonkers; they seriously need to re-evaluate the way in which justice is meted out.
Recently a judge gave two 26-year old men a suspended sentence for piling two 14-year old with alcohol and amphetamine, then having sex with them. Now here we have an ex-police officer given a six months suspended sentence.
Looking at the way in which this case has been, dealt with, one could assume, or come to the conclusion that individuals can download, possess and shared indecent images of children. When they are, caught, they can claim mental health issues, and they will be spared jail, what a load of bull.
