GOSSIP: What does the Bible say about it.

Lord, we thank you for your mercies and love and bringing through yet another day. Today Jesus we want to focus on GOSSIP and the destructiveness of this tool that the Devil uses to trap your children into conflict and war.

Gossip is very dangerous, and it harms people whether directly or indirectly. It is the result of broken trust and hurt feelings. God recognises how counterproductive gossip is and he left Bible instructions for us so that we may follow them and stop gossiping.

2 Corinthians 12:20 For I am afraid that when I come, I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not see me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance and disorder.

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
Exodus 23:1 Do not spread false reports. Do not help a guilty person by being a malicious witness.

James 1:26 Those who consider themselves religious and yet do not keep a tight rein on their tongues deceive themselves, and their religion is worthless.
Leviticus 19:16 Thou shalt not go up and down as a talebearer among thy people: neither shalt thou stand against the blood of thy neighbour: I am the LORD.

Proverbs 10:18 He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander, is a fool.
Proverbs11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Proverbs 26:20-22 20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth. 21 As coals are to burning fuels, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife. 22 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

In Jesus name, I bind the mouth of gossipers and pray that God will help them. Amen
