Resisting temptation in a world that abounds with greed, hatred, envy, malice, spite and the, me first factor is never going to be an easy task.

However, let us look at what the Bible tells us about temptation and one of the people who was, tempted. When prompted by Satan to turn the stones into bread, jump off the pinnacle of the Temple, or bow down and worship him, Jesus never did anything that Satan was tempting him to do because he believes in God. Jesus is our example, and as such, he resisted temptation the same way in which he calls us to resist temptation.

The scripture according to Mark 7:20-23 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man. All temptation comes from within us, as stated by the scripture.

Even though temptation comes from within the book of 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. God is telling you that he will not allow you to be, tempted beyond what you can tolerate and therefore, because you know he got your back when temptation rears the ugly head you can defeat whatever that seduce you.

Furthermore, the Bible also says in Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak. James 1:13 Let no man say when he is, tempted, I am, tempted of God: for God cannot be, tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.

When you resist temptation, you are telling the Devil that he has no power over you. Tell him that you know that the Mighty God you serve is there for you in the morning, noon and night and will be there for eternity and Satan cannot buy your soul because it belongs to God.
