The Crown Prosecution Service has charged the Police Officer involved in the smashing of a motorist windscreen.Police officers opposite to Big Ben in London UK. Vintage retro style.

According to the media report, the Police Officer was filmed after he pulled over a Black motorist, a case of mistaken identity. But, before he ensures that the motorist was who they were looking for, he yelled at the motorist to get out of the car and them proceeded to bang on the windscreen of the car smashing it then was seen with an implement trying to slice through the shattered windscreen.

Following an investigation by the Police Complaint Commission, the PC was charged.  Apart from being charged with assault and criminal damage, threatening behaviour he was also charged with possession of a bladed implement.

The steps which were taken by the Police Complaint Commission and the Crown Prosecution, I hope will send a message to all police officers that patrol our streets, that we appreciate all their hard work but we will not tolerate blatant acts of racism, bullying and unwarranted behaviour against any sections of our communities.

The police are there to serve and protect and they should know that they will face the consequences of their actions when they do not act appropriately in protecting the public.
