Hundreds of thousands of young people from all over the world will be arriving in Krakow to celebrate world youth day.  The theme of the Statue of popecelebration “the fifth beatitude” from the Gospel of Mathew.

According to the media, this is a Catholic event that his organise to bring young people together focusing on faith. The event which will run from 26 – 31 July 2016.

World youth day will be of significant importance as it will be a tribute to Saint Pope John Paul 11founder of World Youth day and Krakow being his hometown will make the occasion especially important.

It was at Pope John Paul 11 invitation to young people to visit Poland in 1984 to worship Palm Sunday. Apparently, more than 300, 000 arrived for the celebration.

I am pleased that this religious event brings together so many young people and especially humble to know that our youth who will be our future are cementing themselves in religious beliefs and will carry Christianity forward.

Some may ask what is the significance of world youth day.  It is a day that young people have an encounter with then Pope.  It is a day when young people can deepen their faith and learn about the universality of the Church.

In my opinion the day is much more than a celebration of youth but a day that affords young people to understand their place in society and the contributions that they can make worldwide.Â
