Understanding the many ways the Devil tempt us

Almighty God, hear my prayers this morning. Thank you for your protection and grace against the adversary. Lord, we need your protection from the many ways in which the Devil tries to tempt us.

Heavenly Father, we know that there is a battle raging between good and evil and unless we can recognise the ways the adversary tempt us, we are doomed to let Satan corrupt everything that is good and decent that you have given to your children.

Today we look at the ways the Devil tempt us. He uses gossips, lies, division, racism, greed, hatred, fear and the love of money to keep us enslaved into his false promises. The Devil has created so many pitfalls in this world that we have to encounter every day and many of us fall apart because we cannot meet the various commitments we have some of your children will commit unspeakable things just to come out of the problems.

However, Lord we know that you will never forsake us are abandon us, and you have given us these Bible instructions to recognise how the Devil can tempt us and how we can resist him.
2 Corinthians 11:3 But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.

1 Thessalonians 3:5 For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter have tempted you, and our labour is in vain.

James 4:7  Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Matthew 26:41 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. 1 Peter 5:8  Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Ephesians 6:12–13  Our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.

1 Timothy 6:9 Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.

Most gracious Lord, we know that you are with us always and forever, strengthen our resolve, assist us in every way and answer us when we call upon you in the precious name of Jesus Amen.
