Mighty God, I come before you on this glorious day that you have given us asking that you keep us free from deceit, malice and envy.

There are many Biblical verses which make it patently clear that God hates deceit. It is, said that there are six things that God despises, and seven is an abomination, proud eyes, feet that make haste to run to evil, lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows disagreement among brothers.

In the book of Peter 2:1 Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings. 1 Peter 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

Deceit comes in many forms as we are told here in 2 Corinthians 11:13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

Here we are warned in the book of Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.

God tells us that we live in deceit, as is confirmed in the scripture according to Jeremiah 9:6 Thine habitation is amid deception; through deceit, they refuse to know me, saith the Lord. Job 15:35 They conceive mischief and bring forth vanity, and their belly prepareth deceit.

Galatians 6:6-7 Let him that is, taught in the word communicate unto him that teacheth in all good things. 7 Be not deceived; God can not be, mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
