Recognising God’s Truth Over The Diabolical Lies Of Man
In a world clouded with misinformation, shifting morals, and deceptive ideologies, the need to discern truth from falsehood has never been more urgent. For the believer, truth is not subjective—it is anchored in the unchanging Word of God. Yet, many are being swayed by the lies of men, often packaged in persuasive language and cultural trends. The Bible provides us with clear guidance: to trust in the eternal truth of God over the fleeting and frequently corrupt words of man.

God Is Truth
Truth is not just something God speaks; it is who He is. To know God is to know truth. “John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Jesus, in His high priestly prayer, identified God’s Word as the definitive standard of truth. There is no lie, error, or manipulation in God’s Word. His commandments and promises are immutable and eternal.

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: Numbers 23:19 hath he said, and shall he not do it?”
Unlike man, who is capable of deceit and change, God does not lie. His integrity is absolute. His truth is not altered by human opinion or the passage of time.

Man’s Lies Are Deceptive and Destructive
While God is the embodiment of truth, Scripture warns us repeatedly that man, left to his own devices, often strays into deception. Jeremiah 17:9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Human nature is inherently flawed by sin. Lies can be appealing, even comforting, but they lead to destruction. Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof is the ways of death. What feels right or seems rational by human standards may, in fact, oppose God’s truth. The enemy uses subtle distortions to lead people astray—just as he did in the Garden of Eden.

John 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth… for he is a liar, and the father of it. Satan is the architect of lies. Whenever man exalts his wisdom above God’s, he unknowingly aligns with the father of lies. Deception is Satan’s primary tool to separate humanity from the truth of God.

The Spirit of Truth Guides Believers
The Holy Spirit is our guide into all truth. He helps us discern God’s Word rightly and recognise deception when it arises. John 16:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth. This divine guidance is essential in a world that celebrates “personal truths” and downplays absolute standards. The Spirit doesn’t just give information; He reveals God’s heart.

The Word as a Weapon Against Lies
The Bible equips believers to confront and overcome deception. Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Scripture cuts through pretence, revealing truth and exposing lies. Jesus Himself used the Word to resist Satan’s temptations (Matthew 4), setting an example for how we must wield God’s truth.

The Danger of Rejecting the Truth
There are severe consequences for those who reject God’s truth in favour of man’s lies. 2 Thessalonians 2:10-11 Because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved… God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. To reject truth is not a neutral act—it opens the door to deeper deception. When people persist in suppressing God’s truth, they eventually become incapable of discerning lies from reality.

Conclusion: Choose God’s Truth
In a time where lies are cloaked as enlightenment, and falsehood is celebrated as liberation, God’s people must stand firmly on His Word. Truth is not defined by popular vote, political correctness, or personal feeling. Truth is God’s revealed will, found in Scripture, confirmed by the Holy Spirit, and displayed in the life of Jesus Christ. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Only God’s truth sets us free from sin, from fear, from confusion, and deception. Let us reject the lies of men and cling to the unchanging truth of the living God.
