What is God’s instruction regarding profanities

Swearing 69805

The dictionary describes profanity as a vulgar or obscene language or behaviour. Accordingly, the use of swear words is, classified as profanities.

But what does the Bible says about profanities and what are God’s instructions. We find those answer in the following bible verses. The book of Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy talk out of your mouth. Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. 37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words, thou shalt be condemned. Matthew 15:10-11 And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:11 Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

God does not want us to use profanities, and I know that we all have used obscene words time and again to express ourselves. But now that we are aware of the ramification of using such words, we have to do our utmost to ensure that those words no longer come out of our mouth.

Mighty God, I ask for your guidance and protection. Please help me to drop obscene language from my mouth and make every word that I utter is a positive and in the light of your glory, in Jesus name Amen.
