It is about time that these vile attacks are taken seriously and I am sure that majority of people will be more than happy to see the Crown Prosecution wanting to do something to deter these individuals.

According to a media report, the Crown Prosecution is seeking to ensure that offenders that are caught with a corrosive substance, to be charged with carrying an offensive weapon that carries a potential 4-year sentence.

The Crown Prosecutors are also considering bringing a tough charge to the individuals that actually use or throw acid on another individual, and they are considering a life sentence.

I believe the procedures that are being considered are a direct result of public outcry regarding the number of people that have been attacked by acid over the last few years. It has been stated in the media that London acid attack when up by 65%.  Apparently, there were fewer than 200 attacks up to 2014, however, since then the number of recorded attacks has jumped to 431.

In my opinion, I just do not want the government or the Crown Prosecution Services to be only paying lip service to these vile acts, we want to see that Judges actually mete out these sentences to perpetrators, if they are caught carrying corrosive substance and they are successfully prosecuted they should get the 4 years and if they use acid to harm or hurt another individual then life sentence.

The public has a right to be protected from these idiots and if, as a society, we do not demonstrate that we are tough in terms of imprisoning these individuals then we allow them to continue with their destruction of other people’s life.
