When we are in trouble and feel like the weight of the world is on our shoulders we forget that God has given us the tools we need to sustain ourselves even in the darkest days of our lives.
The deadly unseen Coronavirus has left us feeling vulnerable, trapped, scared, anxious, and the greatest fear that we have experienced since this generation can ever imagine.
All over the world, there are hundreds of thousands of people who only hear about World War 2 and the crisis that face millions. I do not believe that this generation in our lifetime would come across an enemy as dangerous and lethal as the COVID 19. Yet here we are facing an unseen foe that is systematically killing hundreds of people every day.
In these dark days, we wonder how we can face this enemy and fight for our survival. Let us turn to the book of Psalms because these books are the words we need to strengthen, protect and keep us safe.
Psalm 23:1-6 The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
Thank you that you are our Shepherd we can trust you with our lives. We’re so grateful for your leadership and, understanding for your guidance and care in this our darkest days. We know that you will restore our souls, give us peace, and bring hope in all our tomorrows. Mighty God, your protection and strength surround us like a shield, and we shall not fear. Thank you for your goodness and love it follows after us, even when we’re unaware. In you alone, there is real rest and peace. We praise you for the assurance that you will wipe away this unseen foe from amongst your people.
Psalm 91:1-6 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the highest shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord; He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust. Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and the dangerous pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night nor the arrow that flieth by day. Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth, at noonday.
