A media report suggests that more than 1000 sexual assaults and rapes occurred at schools and nurseries across London over the past four schoolyears.

It would appear that of the rape allegations reported the borough of Croydon accounts for 15 percent.  It is, unacceptable and frightening for parents with nursery and school age children.

How can parents across London have any confidence in the security at the school or nursery their children attend.  Although, the Metropolitan Police states that, though crimes may be, committed in schools vicinity the victims are not necessarily pupil, that is no comfort to parents.

The assaults could be against caretakers, parents, trespassers or teachers, this does not make this report any easier to digest.  It does not even matter how the allegations are broken down any mention of school and nurseries associated with sexual allegations, and rapes send shock waves, alarm bells ringing where parents are concerned.

Outlined in the report is the fact that regarding assaults fifty took place in Greenwich, Lewisham forty-six, Lambeth and Newham forty-five. Parents fear factor goes up if they live in and have school age children in the affected boroughs.

There are sections of society that are immoral that nowhere is safe and secure anymore and even institutions that are supposed to help guide the next generation of adults becomes the target of their archaic and offensive attitudes.

If we cannot send our children to schools and nurseries believing they will be safe what options have parents has left and how stressful this report is going to be for parents.  I do not have any clue as to how this will affect parents, but living in one of the affected boroughs my concerned have increased so much so that I am going to be more vigilant where my children are concerned.Â
