The word iniquity is mentioned about 250 times in the Bible. So what is our definition of ‘iniquity’ and what does the Bible say about it.

The Bible defines iniquity, transgression and sin as disobedience to God. In the book Micah 2:1 Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! When the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.

Because sin is, seen as iniquity the bible tells us in Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law but grace.

Jeremiah 33:8 And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

Psalm 32:5 I acknowledge my sin unto thee, and my iniquity has I not hid. I said I would confess my transgressions unto the Lord, and thou forgavest the iniquity of my sin. Selah.

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden his face from you, that he will not hear.
