Should the UK Government cancel the United States of America President Donald Trump’s state visit to the United Kingdom, bearing in mind that it was previously delayed, when over two million people signed a petition calling that his visit is downgraded?
But should we cancel the visit? Personally, I say yes, the UK has always had what is coined a ‘special relationship’ and because of that we have always welcome successive US Presidents to the United Kingdom without question. So why does the current President not enjoy the warmth of the British People?
The comment the President made following the Charlottesville incident, suggesting that anti-fascist supporters as well as the White Supremacist where to be blamed for the violence, triggers worldwide outrage, also from senior Republican and Democrats. Because of that a number of UK MP’s urged Prime Minister, Theresa May to cancel the proposed President state visit. Apparently, there were many that did not appreciate Donald Trump’s comments regarding the incident and this also, according to a media report there was a comment that ‘the leader of the free world loses moral authority when he fails to call fascism by its name’.
It is not a stretch of the imagination, in my opinion, that the British people do not like the US President and they would rather he stays in the US and not visit our country. He has if one believes the media demonstrate bigotry, racism, fascism and sexism, the leader of one of the biggest democracy should be intellectually savvy, decent and above all his integrity should never be called into question.
