Russia track and field athletes must be seeing red; not being able to compete in the  2016 Rio Olympics.

The IAAF suspended Russia from the track and field event November 2015.  It follows the independent publication of World Anti-doping Agency report which shows a culture of Track, fieldstate-sponsored doping.

Naturally, Russia appealed the ban, but the arbitration for sport ruled that the ban can remain.  The news must be devastating for the Russian athletes who I imagine work extremely hard to be able to compete in the Olympic.   It is understandable that they would be upset with the decisions allowing the ban to stay, consider that to athletes the Olympic are like the Oscar to movie star.

It is unfortunate that this happens, but every country that takes part in the Olympics are well aware that governing body has a 0 tolerance on drug taking. When athletes are taking enhancing drugs that are cheating but if the state is sanctioning this behaviour, it is diabolical, in my opinion.

The Olympics is about demonstrating your skills in whatever field you choose and doping oneself to enhance performance is not in the spirit of the game, and I believe it belittles the athlete and cheapens the sport
