Valentine’s Day is an annual celebration with its roots entrenched firmly in pagan customs and beliefs. As Valentine’s day draws close millions of people around the world will be spending thousands on flowers, cards, chocolate and sending messages in celebrating this pagan holiday.
The vast number of people who celebrate this so-called holiday would not, if you asked them, what Valentine’s day means, know. Irrespective of how much the adversary change the meaning of Valentine day the core reasons remain, and God does not buy into the pagan religious history of Valentine’s day.
One writer wrote although the practices of Lupercalia have been repackaged and dressed up in the form of Valentine’s Day, these verses indicate they remain just as detestable as they have always been in our Creator’s eyes.
God opposes pagan celebration as said in Jeremiah 10:1 Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: 2 Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the way of the heathen and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them.
3 For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe.
Matthew 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? Deuteronomy 12:29 When the Lord, thy God, shall cut off the nations from before thee, whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them and dwellest in their land.
30 Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be, destroyed from before thee; and that thou enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? Even so, will I do likewise? 31 Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters, they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
