In the UK we rely heavily on our postmen and women to deliver our letters, whether they are hospital appointments, bank or credit cards, pins, even junk mail, we expect them to be, posted through our letterboxes.
However, it has been, suggested in a media report, that postal worker has been, recruited by gangs offering, them £1,000 per week to intercept individuals bank cards and pins.
According to the report over 11,000 people in the UK has been affected by this fraud in 2016. This sordid affair came to light because of a journalist when undercover and exposed some of the gangs recruiting postal workers for their fraudulent criminal activities.
Apparently, this fraud cost bank cards over 12 million and insurers 10 million. It would be stupid to believe that the hundred and thousands of postal workers are involved in these frauds. Of course, the majority of postmen and women protect the mail safely, considering the millions of letters that are delivered all over the country.
But, there are a few who allow their greed to overcome their integrity, and it would seem the effects of money makes people forget that being a decent human being trumps any amount of money.
An incident like these will always occur, so long as we have to deal with greedy human beings and of course, the financial pressures of people’s lives, sometimes makes them vulnerable to gangs whose only aim is to steal from anyone irrespective of how their action destroy the lives of others.
