We Are Living In A Divisive World What Does The Bible Say? There can be no doubt in anyone that this world has become so divisive that families are turning against each other.
The coronavirus that is wreaking havoc around the world has caused some of the division that is happening. Still, the biggest division in the world is a direct contribution from politicians, especially in the United States of America.
We need to understand why this is happening, and therefore we must turn to the Bible for the answers. The word of God does not lie, and we will learn why there is division, how to identify it, and what can we contribute to addressing the divisive world we live in.
Romans 16:17-20 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and good words and fair speeches deceive the simple hearts.
For your obedience is come abroad unto all men. I am glad therefore on your behalf: but yet I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil. And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you. Amen. God has ordained us to avoid anyone who causes divisions because it is contrary to his doctrine.
1 Corinthians 1:10 Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and the same judgment.
Titus 3:10 A man that is a heretic after the first and second admonition reject. This means that a person who stirs up a division after warning him once and then twice, then you should have nothing more to do with him.
Proverbs 6:16-19 These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him. A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood. A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in the running to mischief. A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.
The book of Proverbs above list the things that God detest because they are the very things that cause divisions among the children of God, and it is purely a trait that humankind uses, having being influence by the Devil. Satan worked out that the only way that he can steal God’s children is to divide and conquer. We must be smart and put on the armour lean on the word of God for strength.
2 Timothy 3: 5 Having a form of godliness, and, denying the power thereof: from such turn away. Avoid the people who pretend that they are obeying the word of God but are acting in a divisive way. They are not of the creator, so we must deny them.
Galatians 5:15 But if you bite and devour one another, take heed that you be not consumed one of another. A stark warning from God, if you cause divisions among the nation, you should be aware your own divisiveness can consume you.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.
